GPS: Great Pussy in the Sky (Girl Jesus, Gal Buddah, etc.)

Do you experience the GPS anywhere in your life?

Yes. I experience it when I’m alone, when I daydream, when I’m doing anything creative, when I allow myself to enjoy nature, when I see babies, and when I’m in the presence of love.

What were you taught about being a woman, from your mom and the culture at large?

I was taught women had to be independent, but at the same time submissive. That we had to be smile often and be kind, but hide our emotions, because people already see women as weak or as bitches, so it’s best not to show any true emotions.

What did religion teach you about womanhood?

Religion taught me, straight up, womanhood is submission, and your sensuality is dirty and shameful.

Was it exciting to think about becoming a woman? Discouraging? Neutral?

I wasn’t excited about it at all.  I remember crying about getting boobs, because I was ashamed of how it was making me feel. I was ashamed of the desires that came with it, because I was taught those desires are dirty. I also found the idea just too damn hard. I was like “ so you telling me I have to be sweet, but not too sweet? Have compassion but don’t show anger? Feel but not show it? Nah fam, that’s too damn confusing.

What does femininity mean to you? Do you feel feminine? When and where do you feel most feminine?

Femininity for ME, because really it’s whatever you want it to be, but for me it’s Grace, God-like Confidence, Unapologetically Emotional, Out-Spoken, Sensual, and the freedom to be quiet or loud whenever the hell you want.
I feel the most feminine hmmm… probably alone in my car or bathroom. I know that sound weird. But it’s just no restrictions on who you can be or how you can act when you’re alone, and idk I guess the small enclosed spaces just make it feel safe.

What does being a woman mean to you? On a scale of 1 to 10, how much do you enjoy it?

To me, being a woman means not having to compromise who you are for anyone. Being able to say fuck, and not be looked down upon. Being a boss ass bitch, but still wanting to cater to your man or children. Being cautious, but adventurous. Loving hard, but being able to put the pieces of your heart back together if broken. See, by now I’ve kind of figured out, being a woman isn’t easy. But it’s just so goddamn fulfilling. I wouldn’t want to be anything else! (No offence men, yall cool). On a scale form 1 to 10, I’m giving it a 10!

I reaallly encourage all my ladies (and even men) to read this book! I am absolutely loving it so far! I’ll continue to do the exercises on the blog so you guys can chime in.
